5 Things Ghanaians expect from the new NPP government

The President-elect of the republic Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has given the assurance that a future NPP government will pay a lot of attention to improved educational system and reforms.
The students’ body of schools across the country are well aware of the promises and assurances he and his party put forth during the campaign towards presidency. The students’ body reiterate that they expect the incoming Akuffo Addo-led government to live up to its promises. Here are 5 things they expect the incoming government not to fail them in.
free
1.On the Free SHS policy, the President-elect reiterated that they have not retreated from the policy of including secondary education as part of basic education. According to him, they are committed to making access as widely as possible by making it free for children in the public school system as it continues to be extremely important for the development of the country. We are looking forward to this implementation as it resounded in the ears of students this year.
incentives
2.The students are expecting the incoming government to focus on the provision of incentives that will motivate teachers, and reward their hard work in the classroom. Teachers work very hard to prepare adequately for the teaching and instruction carried out in the schools. Therefore the incoming government is called upon to make sure these hardworking teachers are motivated appropriately to make their teaching very simple and a pleasant one. Obviously, they wouldn’t want series of strike actions.

3.On the provision of excellent teaching and learning aids, the students’ body is expecting the President in collaboration with the private sector, provide free Wifi coverage for senior secondary and tertiary institutions nationwide dedicated to learning, administration and enhancing the capacity to do research as promised by them during their manifesto launch. They say, ”Please do not swerve us.”
pc
4.Information Technology is becoming more and more predominant in the world. The realization of a global village and knowledge of computer skills is very necessary in the life of a Ghanaian student. As promised by, students would be very happy if the incoming president and his government improve the facilities and the curriculum for ICT education at all levels.
church-and-state
5.The students will like the government to build an effective partnership with religious bodies, civic organizations and the private sector in the delivery of quality education. This partnership will also include the areas of management, supervision and training of teachers in their units. The fight between church and state for schools must end.
