THE VASTY HALL OF DEATH

According to wikiquote, death is the permanent cessation of all biological functions that sustain a living, physical organism. Death may refer to the end of life as either an event or condition. In many cultures and in the arts, death is considered a being or otherwise personified, wherein it is usually capitalized as "Death"

Certainly life is not a grave, where one trembles before the justice of an Unknown Judge! In keeping with their opinion, scholars have proposed the ingenious consolation: “Man begins to die from the moment of his birth”—a scanty and funereal comfort. But We say that man is eternally being born, and particularly at the moment of so-called death.

I speak about Death as one who knows... There is no death. There is... entrance into fuller life. There is freedom from the handicaps of the fleshly vehicle. The rending process so much dreaded does not exist, except in the cases of violent and of sudden death, and then the only true disagreeables are an instant and overwhelming sense of imminent peril and destruction, and something closely approaching an electric shock. No more!

The bitter, yet merciful, lesson which death teaches us is to distinguish the gold from the tinsel, the true values from the worthless chaff.

The terrible events of life are great eye-openers. They force us to learn that which it is wholesome for us to know, but which habitually we try to ignore — namely, that really we have no claim on a long life; that we are each of us liable to be called off at any moment, and that the main point is not how long we live, but with what meaning we fill the short allotted span — for short it is at best.(Felix Adler)

Just to quote one thought provoking sermon from the Rev.Father who presided over the funeral mass of the late Dr Emmanuel Kosi Dogli at Ave  Posmonu, Ho "Our struggles in this world will never be perfect. But that doesn't mean we should stop struggling." 

As my tears drop and I reflect, I've come to finally accept that, the most important aspect of mans life is his deeds . Your works, your words all count and that,the death of a person serves as a lesson to the living. And as Proverbs 18:21 puts it : “The tongue has the power of life and death.” The stakes are high. Your words can either speak life, or your words can speak death. Our tongues can build others up, or they can tear them down. 

It is also important that in all that we strive for in this life, we should be deliberate in leaving a lasting legacy by bequeathing to our family and society everlasting memories. We should eschew vanities as much as possible. As the good Bible says ,what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and loses your soul.
