Crime here , killings there.

Everything start from the home. Charity they say begins at home. Good and bad morals begins at home. This is because the home is the foundation of our everything.

Education,  which is the acquisition of knowledge, skills , values and attitudes for the total make up of the individual  start from home. But the type of home education is referred to as informal education by educational scholars.

Why the rise in crime and indiscipline in our country now? Not a day or hour passes without news of killings, murder, accident, thievery being announced in the media. Is becoming so scary living here in Ghana.

What has actually become of us? Your guess is as good as mine.

May be the general moral decay like, incessant crave for money, broken homes, influence of the new media, and general corruption. Just now there's news of the killing of a school proprietor. Sad ! 😭

See, our society has reached a stage where property confer rank , wealth becomes the only source of virtue, passion the sole bond of  union between husband and wife, falsehood the source of success in life, sex the only means of enjoyment and outer trappings are mistaken for inner religion.

Can there be any doubt that our society is seeing or  manifesting these ugly destructive tendencies because our leaders hardly show any clean or better behavior for the youth to emulate?

What about this shocking phenomenon of 'Sakawa,' 'sende na me nso nsende mawo' , black magic rituals for quick money and dirty money.

What is even interesting and mind-boggling is that these crime wave is increasing amidst high level penetration of churches and propagation of the word of Jesus Christ.

Has the home broken? What about the country?

Isn't it probably because money has become the evil object of worship in families, church, politics and so on?

Has our religion also failed us? Which is which?

If the home or country is broken then our education or school system probably is broken as well. Just to painfully recall the insults rained on our President of Ghana during last year WASSCE examination by our candidates.

I am at this juncture not doubting that everything probably is broken and needs urgent fixing otherwise we may witness worse situation than these.

In short. to fix the general crime wave and indiscipline, we need to fix leadership. Leadership is everything. When leadership is fixed our educational system will be fixed and thereby having the kind of country we wish for to live in.

NPP government and Teachers of Ghana tussle over salary arears.

From time immemorial government upon governments have reneged upon their promises to make the lots of teachers better.  The use of education and teachers welfare issues on political campaign platforms to get into political power in the 4th republic in Ghana especially around the 2000 to date is a common phenomenon and mind-boggling.

The biggest beneficiary of this, is the NPP government on Free Senior High school ,  restoration of teacher trainee allowance and payment of all legacy teachers salary arears and other mouth watering promises. There is no debate the fact that,  every government that attain political power inherit assets and liabilities and as such should make every effort to work on its liabilities like the case of teachers salary arears spanning 2012 to 2016.

It is almost 3years now Since the New Patriotic Party won power and being in charge but very little has been added or changed for the best in terms of teachers welfare.  It is no surprising this wake up call and industrial strike by the three major teacher unions in Ghana to put pepper into the eyes of the NPP government to fulfill their promises to teachers.

The NPP government has failed on countless occasions when the teacher unions met them to negotiate these payments and this is having serious repercussions on teaching and learning  like frequent absenteeism by teachers, drunkenness, lack of respect for teachers, pregnancies,  indiscipline,  mass failure at BECE just to mention a few.

Just to digress a bit, the government rather prefer to invest in their foot-soldiers by offering them big and corrupt contracts, putting square pegs in round holes to be in charge of state offices to loot us dry.  How can we have more than 120 ministers and cry wolf that Ghana has no money to pay teachers of their well deserved salary arears.  Just think about this insensitivity and crass incompetence of these dudes.

We will continue to strike and fight for our rights until we get our salary arears fully paid into our accounts.

"Solidarity Forever
For The union makes us strong

They have taken untold millions
That they never toiled to earn
But without our brain and muscle not
A single wheel would turn,
We can break their naughty power
Gain our freedom when we learn
That the union makes us strong "
Excerpt from GNAT solidarity song

Aluta continua!!!
